This page is dedicated to the Current Issues presented in the region where Reston is located today. The predominant problem that Reston needs to deal with today is updating the Master Plan to reflect current conditions and opportunities. The County Master Plan incorporates the Reston Master Plan by reference. This plan now is 40 years old and things have changed radically, and some of the changes that have affected Reston more is the opening of the Toll Road which moved Reston several hours closer to the district of Columbia and other important places in the region. This impact will be minor compared to the impact that will need attention when the Metro has expanded into this corridor. Suggestions for revising the Reston Plan evolve through the description of the current state of planning contained in this website.
