| A Biography about Mr. Kane |
|
Patrick F. Kane has been functioning as a consultant, educator and community advisor addressing planning and community needs for over 30 years. He has directed his own planning firm, KRS Associates, from offices in Reston, Virginia, since 1966. In 1973, he formed The Corporation for Community Development, which functions as a consortium of firms and individuals to carry out multi disciplinary and multi-site projects. Local projects include A Future of Tysons Corners, prepared for TYTRAN, a plan for the downtown area of the Town of Herndon, and an assessment of the reinvestment potential of the Lake Anne area of Reston for Fairfax County. He has also prepared the reinvestment program around the Sheraton Hotel and organized procedures for community involvement which resulted in unanimous approval of the project which will convert this sector of Reston to a dynamic focal point advancing the value from a 1/2 million to 7 million dollar range.
Mr. Kane is a member of the Northern Virginia Planning district Commission, appointed by Fairfax County and a member of the Board of Directors of Gabriel Homes, which operates group homes for developmentally disabled young adults. He has also served on the Dulles Corridor Task Force, was the first president of the Grater Reston Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Board of Directors AHOME.
Mr. Kane is on the faculty of the University of Virginia, Graduate Planning Program and George Mason University and, has offered a course on the importance of planning to elementary school students throughout Northern Virginia.
